How to make Homemade Playdough

Playdough is an excellent activity to do while listening. Make it fun by bringing out cookie cutters, rolling pin, and garlic press - Enjoy!

Home-Made Playdough (Makes 2 cups)

Ingredients:

1 cup flour

2 TB pure vegetable oil

2 Tsp. cream of tarter

1/2 cup salt

1 cup liquid: water

Directions:

1. In a large saucepan over medium heat, combine all ingredients and stir to mix well.

2. Cook, stirring, until the mixture sticks together and forms a large ball. Don’t be alarmed if the mixture appears lumpy; once it cools a little you can knead it and it will become smooth.

3. Cool on waxed paper; Store the Playdough in a covered container.

Creating colors:

You may prefer  to divide your mixture into separate balls and add some scents and coloring:

Brown: add carob powder, scented with almond oil

Yellow: turmeric, scented with nutmeg

Pink: add beet juice, scented with peppermint oil

Orange: with beet juice and turmeric or carrot juice, scented with cinnamon

Green: add chlorophyll liquid (from your healthfood store)

Be sure to use a protective covering on your playing surface and enjoy!
